"This horse is out of this world," said Sanne Thijssen after her victory in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Valkenswaard (NED), which she will certainly keep in special memory for a long time. Thijssen and the 17-year-old Con Quidam RB are a well-rehearsed and successful team that can be really fast. The son of Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), line 1446, and his rider have a long list of international victories and placings to show: Among others, they topped the prize-giving ceremony in Moerzeke (BEL), Opglabbeek (BEL), Mannheim (GER), and Vejer de la Frontera (ESP) – this year alone. In the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Valkenswaard, the bay showed a remarkable will to win: Despite some communication difficulties, he fought his way through the course clear and finished it in top time. "He is a fighter and always careful," Thijssen was pleased to say.

In Baborowko, Poland, two Holsteiners battled it out for victory in the 1.45-metre Grand Prix: Anastacia III by Quidam de Revel-Lavall II (ZG Krohn/van Hamond, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog), line 4490, and Dawid Kubiak (POL) secured the win. The silver medal went to Locanto RN by Carembar de Muze–Canturo (Reimer Nagel, Marne), line 18B1, ridden by Ales Opatrny (CZE). In sixth place was another Holsteiner, Castigo de Amor by Cascadello I-Con Air (Henrik/Madelaine Marck), line 1129, ridden by Tomasz Miskiewicz.
Klaus-Peter Wiepert (Neuratjensdorf) is the breeder of Dialuna by Diarado-Quidam’s Rubin from line 3488, who won a difficult show jumping competition in Lexington, Kentucky (USA). The mare began her competitive career in Schleswig-Holstein with Christian Hess and is now ridden by the Spaniard Diego Perez Bilbao. She was followed in second place by Christa by Christon-Clinton I (Dirk Ahlmann, Reher), line 4294, ridden by Lauren Hough (USA). The bronze medal also went to a horse with Holsteiner pedigree: Evita DKG is by New Quidam I out of Diamant de Semilly (Dr Klaus Gumpert, Grevenkog), line 162, and was ridden by Kalvin Dobbs (USA).
Brianne Beerbaum and Carlucci by Calido I–Acord II (Jürgen Schröder, Neuenbrook), line 2543, are the German champions in the Children’s age group – that is, young riders aged 14 and under competing on full-sized horses in M*-level show jumping. The pair had already brought home team gold from the U14 European Championships. The 13-year-old said after her victory in Munich: “Carlucci felt brilliant every single day; it was absolutely fantastic.” This is not Carlucci’s first championship title: in 2019, he had already won gold with Mynou Diederichsmeier at the German Show Jumping Championships for female riders in Balve.
The action was thrilling in the junior final at the DJM in Munich, an S**-class show jumping competition comprising two rounds. Max Merschformann and Dorotheental’s Classica by Classe VDL-Cassini I (ZG von Dörnberg/von Malaise, Damp), line 776, put in strong performances, securing second place in the final and, following eighth and tenth places in the two previous qualifying rounds, the championship title in the U18 age group. “Classica helped me enormously and helped me win this title. I went into the course aiming for a clear round and a good ride, and I hadn’t expected to become German Champion.” Mathies Rüder and For Freedom EKT by For Fashion-Carthago (Reimer Rolfs, Norderwöhrden), line 1298, also took bronze.
Eventing
Nickel, a son of Numero Uno and Lorentin I, celebrated his second consecutive victory with Julia Krajewski: the dark bay, bred by Hindrick Stuevel (Rosengarten), line 4303, had already won a three-star competition in Belgium at the start of August and has now secured gold for the German team in the Nations Cup in Arville (FRA) as well as first place in the individual classification.
