Last weekend, one of the final decisive competitions on the road to the Olympic Games in Paris took place in Rotterdam (NED) – naturally, with Holsteiner participation.
Zuccero HV by Zirocco Blue-Caretino (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), line 4539, rode clear with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson for Sweden in the Longines League of Nations. After two rounds, the Swedish team ultimately secured the silver medal. The British team, which finished third, included Equine America Cacharel by Cachas-Quinar (Helmut Bohm, Haselund), line 5951, and Joseph Stockdale.
In the Grand Prix, Uricas v/d Kattevennen by Uriko-Cassini I (Otto Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 1916, once again made a name for himself. The bay horse and Harrie Smolders (NED) took the bronze medal.
In a 1.50-metre show jumping class, another pair that has already celebrated many successes together made it onto the list of placings: Scuderia 1918 Calle Deluxe by Cesano II-Con Air (Karl Ernst Kruse-Sönke, Kollmar), line 18B1, and Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA) took second place.
Myla is a daughter of Crunch out of a Quadros dam (Norbert Scheel, Duvenstedt), line 7369, and has not yet competed in many international competitions. The nine-year-old made her debut in top-level competition under Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP), competed in the Youngster Tour in 2023 and switched to being ridden by Kent Farrington (USA) at the start of 2024. After just a few appearances in high-level show jumping, the pair have now secured silver in the 1.60-metre Grand Prix at the Global Champions Tour leg in Paris (FRA).
Eventing
In Poland, or more precisely in Strzegom, Felix Vogg, a Swiss rider living in Germany, won the three-star long-distance event. He was riding Frieda, a daughter of Casalito-Heraldik xx bred by Jörg Harder (Wewelsfleth), line 749. A reigning German Champion was also seen back on the international stage here: Cascoblanco by Cascadello I–Sir Shostakovich xx–Corrado I (Manfred Johannsen, Tornesch), line 569, took third place in the two-star class with Pia Leuwer (GER). Zuccini MN (Marko Neeth, Preetz), a son of Zuccero HV by Cassini I, line 3317, came fifth with Pia Leuwer.
