Holstein horses and their riders secured international placings last weekend, particularly at competition series in the USA, but also in France and Poland. You can read a summary of results from 1.40 metres up to and including sixth place every Monday in the Holsteiner Results.
Sven Gero Hünicke is in the saddle on Mastermind RL. The gelding, by Mylord Carthago out of Alcatraz, was bred by Rasmus Lüneburg from Hetlingen, line 8763. Hünicke and the ten-year-old had already enjoyed success together this year at the World Cup event in Leipzig; now they have taken second place in the 1.45-metre Grand Prix in Sopot (POL).
At the World Cup in Bordeaux (FRA), C Vier by Cardento-Concorde (W. Wolters, Groningen), line 8818, and Isabella Russekoff (ISR) finished sixth in the 1.60-metre course. A knockdown in the jump-off prevented the pair from achieving an even better placing. C Vier is David Will’s former star horse; he won Nations Cups and was part of the team at the 2021 European Championships in Riesenbeck, where Germany won silver.
Cool Quarz is the name of a son of Quarz-Cassini I, bred at Gundula Henningsen’s stud (Rantrum). The twelve-year-old represents the Holsteiner line 2004 and, ridden by Shawn Casady (USA), finished fifth over 1.55 metres in Thermal (USA).
Celina BH by Canstakko-Carthago (Lonnie Bechmann Schultz, Rödding/DEN), line 3323, added US$43,000 to her career earnings this weekend. With Mimi Gochman (USA) in the saddle, the mare took silver in a 1.60-metre show jumping class in Wellington (USA). Cornwall BH by Con Air-Cambridge (Jessica Morgenroth, Krummesse), line 4025, and Amanda Derbyshire (GBR) finished fifth.
