At last, Monaco by Cassini II-Contender (Ralf Lütje, Haseldorf), line 429, and Harrie Smolders (NED) have secured that long-awaited major victory. They had already enjoyed great success in the most challenging show jumping events this year, but in the end they always had to settle for second place. Now their time had come – and in the Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva, no less. The pair secured €400,000 in prize money and created a fantastic moment in the sporting career of Monaco, now aged 15.
Another Holsteiner, Conner JEI, was also in the fast lane in Geneva. The son of Connor and Cosimo (Gerhard Stamer, Duvensee), line 8778, and Martin Fuchs (SUI) are a well-established team and left the competition behind in a 1.60-metre course. Here, Monaco once again finished fifth, whilst Coolio by Casalito-Quidam de Revel (Martina Wirtz, Hohenzieritz), line 2067, came eighth with Marcus Ehning.
The Holstein Association stallion Crack HV by Cornet Obolensky–Candillo (Campos Cria de Caballos de Deporte), line 1020, and Richard Vogel (GER) have now secured
their victory at the Stuttgart German Masters a few weeks ago: the pair took fourth place in the 1.45-metre two-phase show jumping class at the five-star competition in Geneva. Castiel (Hobe Magens, Ottenbüttel), a son of Casalito-Clearway, line 8769, and Bryan Balsiger (SUI) also finished in fifth place.
Quno by Quo Vados-Cash and Carry (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 776, and the Swiss rider Edouard Schmitz celebrated third place in the 1.55-metre course in front of a home crowd.
Whilst his breeder was honoured at the licensing in Elmshorn for precisely these successes achieved by Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890, was honoured for these very successes at the licensing in Elmshorn, this Holsteiner continued in his usual style and placed in Thermal (USA): under Kristen Vanderveen (USA), he took third place in a 1.45-metre show jumping class.
