She is by I’m Special de Muze and Calido I and was bred by Morena Petersen from Ahrenviöl: The six-year-old Holsteiner mare Killer Queen has become world champion of young eventing horses in Le Lion d’Angers (FRA). In the saddle was Merel Blom-Hulsman, who has already brought many highly successful horses from the land between the seas into sport. Starting with their dressage score of just 25.1 penalty points, the pair took the lead and maintained this outstanding result through both cross-country and show jumping. "She felt like a professional in the cross-country despite adverse ground and weather conditions," the rider enthused. Incidentally, Killer Queen’s dam Princess L by Calido I is the dam of the former Bundeschampioness Lillet, who was victorious up to CCI4*-S under Andreas Dibowski and moved to five-star winner Tamra Smith in the USA this year.
Just recently, Casturano by Castelan I-Canturo brought his breeder Reimer Detlef Hennings fourth place in the WBFSH show jumping breeder ranking and also contributed to Holstein's fourth place in the studbook ranking. Now he and his rider Conor Swail (IRL) won the Grand Prix in Tryon, USA, securing 112,000 US dollars in prize money. "I always knew you were a five-star winner, Stan," the rider thanked his horse afterwards.
In Oslo, the proven Long John Silver by Lasino-Corrado I (Peter Burmeister, Wangels), strain 2896, and Swiss rider Géraldine Straumann jumped to a sixth-place finish in the 1.60m Grand Prix. Late last year, the grey gelding – who had won team silver at the European Championships in Herning (DEN) under Jur Vrieling (NED), among other achievements – had moved to Switzerland to pave Straumann's way into top-level sport.
Just a week earlier, Quincassi by Quintero-Cassini I (Gempf Gorch-Hermann, Stelle), strain 162, and Swiss rider Niklaus Schurtenberger had claimed victory in a show jumping class in Oliva (ESP), and this past weekend they were once again presented with the winner's ribbon – this time in a 1.50m course.
At the Global Champions Final in Rabat (MAR), Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann piloted a promising Holsteiner to fifth place: We are referring to High Level by Livello-King Milford xx (Jens Hauschildt, Seester), strain 95. She is nine years old and is gaining her first experience at such a high level this year.
