Over the Easter weekend, Holsteiners once again secured numerous international placings around the world.
In Grimaud (FRA), Limbridge by Limbus-Cambridge (Ralf Pawlowski, Heidenheim), line 741, and Jana Wargers (GER) won a 1.55-metre show jumping class. In addition, Quel Homme de Hus by Quidam de Revel-Candillo (Dr Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), line 4847, and Jérôme Guery (BEL) took fourth place.
In Linz, Austria, the Chepetto-Calido I son Chepettano (Christiane Tropschug, Bokel), line 1020, and Maksymilian Wechta (POL) proved unbeatable in a 1.50-metre show jumping class. They finished second in another 1.50-metre competition at the same competition. The pair had previously won, amongst other things, last year’s Grand Prix in Poznan (POL). Another Holsteiner, Lord Mexx by Larimar-Coriano (Hans Bock, Quickborn), line 1811, ridden by Angelos Touloupis (GRE), also finished fifth in Linz.
Callias by Companiero-Casco (Sven and Lothar Völz, Wöhrden), line 730B, won two difficult classes in Oliva Nova (ESP): He triumphed at 1.45 metres and 1.50 metres with his Spanish rider, Jesús Garmendia Echevarria.
Be Aperle VA is a reliable partner on the course for Diarmuid Howley: the mare by Clarimo-Concerto II from line 238 was bred by Howley’s employer, Manfred von Allwörden, and has now racked up numerous successes in show jumping up to 1.60 metres. Jörg Naeve had ridden her and won, amongst other things, a class at the five-star show in Dubai before she returned to the Grönwohldhof. With her Irish rider, she triumphed this weekend in the Westergellersen Grand Prix. Second place also went to a Holsteiner: Cellato by Cellestial-Calato (Jörn Kusel, Visselvörde), line 318D2, with Michael Kölz (GER) in the saddle.
Eventing
Casino by Casillas-Claudio (Behrend Jacobs), line 1020, and Dirk Schrade (GER) celebrated a start-to-finish victory in a Swedish three-star event in Kristianstad. Back in late March, Schrade and the twelve-year-old Holsteiner Casino secured second place in the CCI3*-S in Kronenberg (NED), making for a confident start to the 2022 World Championships year.
