The Longines Global Champions Tour has stopped off in Rabat, Morocco, for the second time, and a German rider has dominated the international field on her Holsteiner mare. Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Iron Dames High Level by Livello-King Milford xx (Jens Hauschildt, Seester), line 95, impressed with a double clear round. The pair thus secured victory in the 1.50-metre class at the CSI5*.
In the Grand Prix in Rabat, two Holsteiners also finished in the top places: Cordial by Casall-Chicago Z (Hans-Hermann Gempf, Stelle), line 325, and Denis Lynch came third, whilst Flower Girl by Hickstead-Catoki (Michal Szadkowski), line 628B, and Marcus Ehning came fifth.
Eventing
At the World Championships for Young Eventing Horses in Le Lion d’Angers, France, it became clear once again that the ‘crown of equestrian sport’ is not decided in the dressage arena. There were many changes in the rankings during the cross-country and also in the final show jumping round. The best Holsteiner in the six-year-olds’ classification was Buba d’Mues by Bubalu-Favory AA (Hark Arfsten/Gut Müggenbusch), line 162. Ridden by the Finnish rider Sanna Siltakorpi, last year’s Bundeschampionat finalist finished in sixth place. The best Holsteiner mare in the seven-year-old class was Chanel RF by Casall-Capone II, bred by Remo Flinzer, line 2723, – she finished 15th in the final standings and was ridden by the Australian Kevin McNab, who won the World Championship title here in 2021 with the mare Cute Girl – a former Holsteiner auction horse.
There was also a Holsteiner victory to report in a five-star competition in the USA: Cartania by Cartani-Clinton I (Günter Koch, Vollerwieck), line 2895, and Felix Vogg secured this prestigious win. Plan B has paid off, as Felix Vogg can now say with certainty: he had actually intended to compete at the five-star classic in Burghley with Cartania, his reserve horse for the Paris Olympics, but Vogg sustained an injury and had to change his plans. Now the pair have been able to prove their worth in the USA. Commando, a son of Connor-Amigo xx, line 268, also galloped to third place with the American rider Boyd Martin. Joachim Siebke from Thumby is responsible for Commando’s breeding.
