Last weekend, Holstein horses once again made a name for themselves. One example was Denver by Diarado-Quantum (Pamela Brüning, Dinklage), line 2067. Ridden by Dutch rider Michael Greeve, the ten-year-old gelding competed in Deurne (NED) and secured second place in the 1.60-metre Grand Prix. Prior to that, the pair had placed in two 1.50-metre show jumping classes. In addition, two further Holsteiners made it onto the Grand Prix honours list: firstly, Camilla van de Helle by L.B. Crumble-Casall (Klaus Thiedemann, Oesterwurth), line 2453, who took third place with Kevin Jochems (NED) in the saddle; and the other was Comthago VDL by Comme il faut-Carthago (Wilhelm Kochs, Eschweiler), line 3697, with Hessel Hoekstra (NED) in sixth place.
In Italy, specifically in Gorla Minore, Claus by Casalito-Cosido (Fedder Feddersen, Olderup), line 890, in particular represented the Holsteiner Verband. With Tim Hoster in the saddle, the eleven-year-old won Saturday’s main show jumping class over 1.55 metres.
Eventing
Meanwhile, the entire eventing scene had turned its attention to the five-star event at Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington (USA). Here, Boyd Martin (USA) placed two Holsteiners in the CCI5*-L class. He rode Commando
by Connor-Amigo xx (Joachim Siebke, Thumby), Line 268, to second place. Riding Luke
by Landos-Limbus (Georg Clausen, Rabenkirchen), line 13 A, Boyd Martin also took sixth place – after both horses fully lived up to their reputation as Holsteiners by completing the show jumping course without any penalty points.
A CCI4* event was also held in Lexington. Here, Denim
by Dinken-Ibisco xx (Martin Bachmann, SUI-Heimberg), line 49, galloped to fourth place. Philipp Dutton (USA) was in the saddle of the former Holsteiner auction horse.
