What a successful weekend for the Carstensen/Petersen/Friedrichsen family from Sollwitt! Whilst two stallions from the family’s own breeding programme, owned by Beeke and Tjade Carstensen, were presented at the Fritz-Thiedemann-Halle in Elmshorn and received a positive licensing verdict, things also went well for the family on the sporting front: The newlywed Teike Friedrichsen (née Carstensen) kicked off the indoor season in Opglabbeek and won two classes on Greece by Mylord Carthago-Quinar (Margit Petersen, Sollwitt), line 3401. These were a 1.45-metre show jumping class on Friday and the Grand Prix on Sunday. Not only did Teike’s grandmother Margit breed Greece herself, but she also bred his full brother Miami, who was recently approved at Elmshorn this weekend.
Henning Ströh from Bovenau is the breeder of Cassalfino, a son of Casall-Corofino II, line 741, who emerged victorious from the course in Saint-Lô. This was in a 1.45-metre show jumping class, with Axelle Lagoubie (FRA) in the saddle; the stallion has already won with her this year in Deauville and Pernay (FRA).
In Egypt’s capital, Cairo, Hady Samy Gabr (EGY) won a 1.50-metre show jumping class with his Conway II son Cox. The chestnut was bred by Anne Maria Tolle and represents line 776. His dam, by Carvallo-Ahorn Z, is the half-sister of the licensed stallion Livello.
In the USA, a well-established successful duo once again made a name for themselves: Kristen Vanderveen (USA) rode her Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890, to an outstanding third place in the 1.60-metre course at the five-star World Cup competition in Marlboro. In addition, the former Holsteiner auction horse Happy Hour by Crunch-Quadros (Norbert Scheel, Duvensee), Line 7369, ridden by Kent Farrington (USA), finished seventh in this class.
Dressage
An international dressage competition took place in Wroclaw, Poland, at the weekend, at which two Holsteiners placed in the Intermédiaire I freestyle: Namely, Capo by Cracker Jack-Alcatraz (Peter Nagel-Tornau, Wangels), line 4847, ridden by Aleksandra Poplawska (POL), who won the class. Conntuccini by Connor-Landjunge (Lvp Stables, Drongen), line 826, and Susanne Krohn (POL) also took fourth place.
