Last weekend, the eventing world had its eyes on Luhmühlen. And there, two Holsteiner horses were simply unbeatable: Just as last year, Julia Krajewski, riding Nickel by Numero Uno-Lorentin I (Hindrick Stüvel, Rosengarten), line 4303, clinched the title at the German Eventing Championships with a start-to-finish victory. “We love Luhmühlen,” said Julia Krajewski after what had been a phenomenal week for her in the Lüneburg Heath. “I think Nickel’s owner, Professor Dr Heicke, is very proud of us today.” The silver medal went to Malin Hansen-Hotopp with Carlito’s Quidditch by Quiwi Dream–Cassini I (Miriam Kühl, Broderstorf), line 6082. “I’m just happy,” summarised Malin Hansen-Hotopp.
Meanwhile, in Rotterdam, the show-jumping elite gathered for the Dutch CHIO. Richard Vogel had entered his Cloudio by Casall-Cassini I (Heike Arendt, Sollwitt), line 5889, in the 1.60-metre Grand Prix and finished fifth after two clear rounds. In the Longines League of Nations over 1.60 metres, Catelly by Catalido-Ephebe for ever (Wulf-Hinrich Hamann, Ammersbek), line 242, and Ben Maher were part of the victorious British team. Furthermore, the former Bundeschampion Con Quality by Chin Champ-Quality (Harmut Knop, Gilde), line 1298, remained clear in all his appearances in Rotterdam. The Holsteiner, brought into competition by Richard Vogel and Sophie Hinners, won a jumping class under his new rider Emely Dehoff (USA).
Several association stallions had also travelled to Rotterdam. Lucas Wenz placed Charaktervoll HV by Comme il faut–Contendro I (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 474A, and United Way HV by Uriko–Concerto II (Holsteiner Verband, Elmshorn), line 1916, to several placings in the two-star competition. Arne van Heel also competed in the 5* show with Keaton HV by Kannan-Contendro I (Rudolf Schmitt, Wesselburen), line 4847, and secured a placing in a 1.50-metre show jumping class.
Speaking of association stallions: as part of the Global Champions Tour leg in Paris, Maximilan Weishaupt and Zuccero HV by Zirocco Blue-Caretino (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), line 4539 – and placed in all three 1.55/1.60-metre show jumping classes.
Dressage
At the CDI3* in Sopot, Poland, the former Holsteiner auction foal Lavaletta by Casall–Lavaletto (Uwe Pahl, Dägeling), line 2895, represented the Holsteiner colours in the dressage arena. With Tessa Frank in the saddle, the twelve-year-old mare won the Grand Prix Special and came second in the Grand Prix.
