In the 1.55-metre Grand Prix at Gorla Minore (ITA), a horse bred by Rasmus Lüneburg (Helingen) secured yet another top-class victory: we are talking about Mastermind RL. The nine-year-old son of Mylord Cathago out of Acatraz, by the Lüneburg family’s successful mare Leica (line 8763), took second place with Torben Köhlbrandt (GER).
Antonia Weixelbraun (AUT) rides Chaloubet by Chaman-Classe (Birgit Becker, Metelen). The gelding from line 503 had previously competed under Markus Renzel (GER) and now, under his rider, secured victory in a 1.45-metre show jumping class in Busto Arsizio (ITA). Third place in this class went to My Divine by Mylord Carthago-Chambertin (Kai Gerken, Lasbek), line 1525. David Vitale (ITA) presented the stallion.
Tornado VS by Toulon-Contender (Vanessa Schöckemöhle, Steinfeld) and Amado Traporte have already competed in championships for Spain; amongst other achievements, they finished fifth in the team event in Milan in 2023 with two clear rounds in the final. At the Global Tour leg in Madrid, the pair finished fourth in a 1.45-metre show jumping class.
In the 1.60-metre course, it was once again Elysium by Zirocco Blue-Coronado I (Manfred Tummes, Mühlheim), line 4539, and Hans-Dieter Dreher who were on the road to success: swift double-clear rounds secured them third place and 75,000 euros in prize money.
In Windsor, UK, it was another sure-fire winner who literally flew the Holsteiner flag high: Monaco by Cassini II-Contender (Ralf Lütje, Haseldorf), line 429, took second place over 1.60 metres and his rider Harrie Smolders (NED) pocketed €100,000 in prize money.
Eventing
Also in the UK, a four-star eventing competition took place last weekend, in which a Holsteiner galloped right to the top of the rankings: Halo by Humphrey-Contender (Hobe Bernhard), line 318D2, and Piggy March got their season off to a perfect start, having finished seventh in the five-star event at Pau in 2024.
