The outdoor season is drawing to a close, yet a number of outdoor competitions are still taking place, particularly in Europe and North America, where Holsteiners secured good placings this week.

In Sacramento (USA), Cubiki (Hark Arfsten, Föhr), a son of Cassini I and Caproni (line 1772), and Harley Brown (AUS) won a difficult 1.40-metre class. The bay first entered the German show jumping circuit under Philipp Battermann (GER) and is now enjoying international success.

Michael G. Duffy (IRL) rides DSH Charly, a son of Clearway-Silvester (Frank Reiner Claes, Rotthalmünster), line 5085. He had previously enjoyed success with Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) and William Whitaker (GBR) at 1.60-metre level and has now triumphed with the Irish rider in a competition at the three-star show in Birmingham (GBR). Both Charly’s dam and granddam were themselves successful in show jumping up to 1.45 metres and produced numerous highly decorated sport horses. Joseph Stockdale’s (GBR) European Championship horse, Equine America Cacharel by Cachas-Quinar (Helmut Bohm, Haselund), line 5951, finished fifth in a 1.60-metre class at this competition with two clear rounds.

The Clarimo-Caretino daughter Claretina (Hark Martensen, Föhr), line 18A2, and her British rider Laura Renwick won a 1.40-metre show jumping class in Vilamoura (POR). Furthermore, David Will, who recently won silver for Germany at the European Championships with the Holstein-registered C-Vier, has another interesting Holsteiner in his stable: He finished sixth in the class with Zaccorado Blue by Zirocco Blue-Acorado I (Tanja Schramm, Ilmenau), line 1298. The bay horse has already enjoyed international success with May Kühner (AUT) and Will’s business partner Richard Vogel.
