Holsteiner Results: Successes in Geneva

A five-star competition took place in Geneva (SUI) this weekend, featuring, amongst other events, the Top Ten Final and the Rolex Grand Prix. Several Holsteiners achieved excellent placings in the high-prize-money classes.

Sanne Thijssen and her trusted Con Quidam by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), line 1446, were once again unbeatable: In a 1.55-metre show jumping class, they left more than 45 competitors behind and won by a comfortable margin of four seconds. Conner by Connor-Cosimo (Gerhard Stamer), line 8778, and Martin Fuchs (SUI) crossed the finish line with the second-fastest time.

Quel Homme de Hus by Quidam de Revel-Candillo (Dr Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), line 4847, and Jérôme Guéry (BEL) also brought their highly successful 2021 to a close: The bronze medallists at the Tokyo Olympic Games finished third in the Geneva Top Ten Final and secured prize money of around 75,000 Swiss francs.

Another horse from Holstein, Austria by Casall-Corrado I (Heide M. Kriegler, Sigless), line 4564, came ninth. Kent Farrington (USA) was in the saddle on the mare.

In the Rolex Grand Prix in Geneva, two Holsteiners were among the top five: Monaco by Cassini II-Contender (Ralf Lütje, Haseldorf), line 429, and Harrie Smolders took second place, thereby securing prize money of 200,000 Swiss francs. And the successful duo VDL Cartello by Cartani-Lord (Witt family, Wellinghusen), line 741, and Darragh Kenny (IRL) finished in fourth place. This placing earned them 100,000 Swiss francs.

Two Holstein sons of Uriko enjoyed success over 1.40 metres: Uniquo, who is by a Cancara dam and was bred by Günter Schüder (Barenfleth), finished the class as the winner with Jérôme Guéry (BEL) in the saddle. In addition, Uricas v/d Kattevennen, another stallion by Uriko out of a dam by Cassini I (Otto Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 1916, finished in sixth place with Harrie Smolders (NED) in the saddle.
