Sport continued in many places over the Easter weekend as well, with Holstein horses once again securing a number of placings worldwide.
Noami Himmelreich competed at the young horse competition in Compiègne, France, and enjoyed success with Kannut, a son of Kannan: the gelding, out of an Acolord dam from line 730B, was bred by Markus Schneider (Bad Dürrheim). The pair took second place in a 1.40-metre show jumping class.
In a 1.45-metre show jumping class in Opglabbeek (BEL), Comtado took fourth place: He is a son of Comme il faut-Corrado I (Heinz Dehne, Wedemark), line 8720, and is ridden by Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli (SWE). Cool More Hero by Casall-Numero Uno (Josef Unkelbach), line 890, also finished eighth.
Casturano by Castelan I-Canturo (Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), line 318D1, is always a reliable performer. Ridden by Conor Swail (IRL), the horse ranked fourth in the WBFSH rankings took fourth place in a 1.55-metre show jumping round in Wellington (USA).
Eventing
In Kristianstad, Sweden, two Holsteiners claimed victory in both the two-star and three-star events: the Million Dollar-Canturo daughter Million’s Milka won the two-star event under the saddle of Laura Jahn (GER). She represents line 223B1 and was bred by Günther Fielmann (Schierensee). Riding her second horse, C’est mon etoile by Charleston-Cassito (Reimer Haalck), line 504, Jahn also took third place. In the three-star competition, Caja by Cassilano-Aljano (Lorenz Lassen, Waabs), line 1525, and Berit Schulz (GER) left the other competitors behind – the mare’s first international three-star victory.
Dressage
In Sint-Truden (BEL), Lavaletta by Casall-Lavaletto (Uwe Pahl, Dägeling), line 2895, took third place in a Grand Prix Special. The mare changed hands at the Holstein Foal Auction in 2014 and, under Tessa Frank, had already won numerous national classes up to the highest level before now earning her first international ribbons.
