Whilst the first competitors from across the continent have set off for the European Show Jumping Championships in Milan (ITA), which will be held from 29 August to 3 September, international competitions took place, for example, in Brussels (BEL), Münster (GER) and Gijón (ESP), for example.
Under the floodlights, Steve Guerdat (SUI) and Caracho (Jens Ritters, Krumstedt), a son of Cassilano-Quick Star, line 730B, won a 1.50-metre show jumping class at the Brussels Stephex Masters (BEL). Earlier this year, Caracho had initially won in Leipzig with Richard Vogel (GER) before moving to Steve Guerdat’s stable in March.
Casillas van de Helle by Casall-Corrado I, line 6372, was bred by Dr Konrad Bartjen (Wacken) and finished fourth over 1.50 metres in Brussels. He was ridden by the Dutch rider Kevin Jochems, with whom he had already secured placings in Valkenswaard and Rotterdam (NED) in 2023.
At the five-star show in São Paulo (BRA), Dehli do Santo Antonio by Clarimo-Corrado I (S.C. Sofino/BEL), line 318D2, and Thiago Mattos (BRA) prevailed against the competition in a 1.50-metre course.
At the four-star competition in Münster, GK Curacao by Clarimo-Lerano (Manfred Kummetz, Lübeck), line 5401, took fifth place over 1.50 metres with Carsten-Otto Nagel. He was followed in sixth place by this year’s runner-up in the Hamburg Derby, Calvin by Castelan I-Colman (Hans Heinrich Peters, Krempermoor), line 241, ridden by Caroline Rehoff-Pedersen (DEN).
Unchained by Uriko-Quidam de Revel was sold at the Holsteiner Foal Auction in 2014 – he is now enjoying international success with Sophia Siegel (USA). He was bred by Martina Wirtz, belongs to line 2067 and shares the same dam as Coolio, who enjoyed success at 1.60-metre level with Marcel Marschall and has now moved to Marcus Ehning’s stables. This weekend, Unchained took second place in a 1.45-metre Grand Prix in Del Mar (USA).
Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA) rides Scuderia 1918 Quick and Easy by Quick Orion d’Elle-Colman (Raimund Eichert, Ellwangen), line 730B, and finished third and fourth in two 1.50-metre show jumping classes in Gijón (ESP).
Dressage
Aperol (Heidi Blohm, Hamburg), a son of Ampère-Aljano, line 8797, won both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle under floodlights at the Anakenenhof in Pinneberg with Juliane Brunkhorst in the saddle. Among other achievements this year, the pair have already won the Grand Prix in Elmlohe.
