From Germany to Canada, Holsteiners secured international placings this week:
In the Grand Prix at Ising on Lake Chiemsee, a Holsteiner ridden by Richard Vogel once again took top honours at the prize-giving ceremony: Caracho by Cassilano-Quick Star (Jens Ritters, Krumstedt), line 730B, proved unbeatable in the jump-off of the 1.45-metre class.
At this competition, two Holsteiners battled it out for victory in a 1.40-metre class. First place went to Chimney Sweep by Calato-Contender (Hans-Hermann Gericke, Tönning), line 2269, ridden by Lisa Schill-Huber. The mare was originally sold at the Holsteiner Auction and has been racking up successes in advanced show jumping for years.
Second place went to Colani by Connor-Quadrigo (Silke Bunte, Hoffeld), line 18A1, ridden by Cathleen Rodriquez. Maximilian Weishaupt rode Nexus by Nekton-Calando I (Dieter Pingel, Altenmoor), line 2428, and won the 1.45-metre course in Ising with him.
In Calgary, Canada (Spruce Meadows), Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Zuccero by Zirocco Blue-Caretino (Hanno Köhnke, Badendorf), line 4539, secured two top-class placings: They finished seventh over 1.60 metres and fourth over 1.50 metres.
Comthago VDL by Comme il faut–Carthago (Wilhelm Kochs, Eschweiler), line 3697, and Marlon Modolo Zanotelli won a 1.40-metre show jumping competition in Opglabbeek, Belgium.
The silver and bronze positions in a 1.55-metre Grand Prix went, on the one hand, to Cous Cous by Cachas-Lasino (Norbert Schmalbach, Mollhagen), line 18B1, ridden by Hans-Dieter Dreher. The silver and bronze positions in a 1.55 Grand Prix went to Casillas van de Helle by Casall-Corrado I (Dr Conrad Bartjen, Wacken), line 6372, ridden by Kevin Jochems.
Eventing
The former Holsteiner auction horse All We Need by Almoretto-Con Capitol (Heinrich Christiansen, Goldelund), line 8765, and Millie Juleff have won a three-star short class in Charlbury, Great Britain. As recently as July, the pair emerged victorious from the three-star event at Hartpury (GBR).
Young Holsteiners impress
Following the outstanding results achieved by Holsteiners at the National Championships in Warendorf, there are now reports of success from young horses with Holsteiner pedigrees from other European countries:
A son of Connor was crowned French Champion of six-year-old show jumpers. Connorado d’Enfer by Connor-Cayada was born at Hans Hermann Seeland’s (Haale) and represents line 318D2. With Farid Alejandro Hernandez Herrera in the saddle, he won the French Championship for six-year-old show jumpers from foreign studbooks.
The five-year-old Livello-Casall son Leviathan HS (line 741) was born at Gunnar Mohr’s stud in Haselau; his breeder is Jan Herbert Detjens (Seestermühe). Ridden by Anna-Clara Pettersson, the bay is now competing in Sweden and has just won a championship for five-year-old show jumpers.
In the Italian Young Horse Championships, the seven-year-old Caruso Bello by Cascadello I-Carry (Manfred Birchler, Bilten), line 890, who was sold to Italy via the Holstein Elite Riding Horse Auction, finished fifth in the final.
