At the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers in Lanaken, Belgium, Kannandillo by Kannan-Candillo (Nicole Hanneken, Rhede) and Angelos Touloupis (GRE) won the first class for seven-year-olds – a 1.40-metre jump-off in two phases.
In the small final for five-year-olds, Donnie Brasco by Diamant de Semilly–Casall (Zlatko Navojec), line 4172, took third place with Henri Kovacs (FIN). Diamond Touch by Diamant de Semilly out of Chin Chin (Henry Luc) and the Belgian rider Jérôme Guéry finished sixth in the final for seven-year-olds – a fault in the jump-off prevented an even better placing. In the Sires of the World final, the Casall Contender son Casallco (Frans Vrenken/NED), line 8798, finished fourth under Philip Rüping (GER).
In Guadalajara, Mexico, a son of Quintero won a 1.50-metre show jumping class at the three-star competition: Namely Quinley, bred by Anke Siewertsen (Föhr), who has a Calato dam and comes from line 5261. Jose Alberto Martinez Vazquez (MEX) was in the saddle. The gelding had previously enjoyed success over the course under Jesse Luther (GER) and Andreas Kreutzer (GER). Third place went to For Gold by For Fashion-Heraldik xx (Georg Clausen, Rabenkirchen), line 162, ridden by Jordan Coyle (IRL).
In Vancouver (CAN), Cerolino by Cero I-Come On (Harm Thormählen, Kollmar), line 173, led the podium in the 1.45-metre Grand Prix with Kyle King. The rider from the USA also rode Odysseus by Osilvis-Riverman (Patricia Vasey/USA), line 1463, to sixth place.
Cyroco by Zirocco Blue-Quidam de Revel (Lothar and Sven Völz, Bienenbüttel) and Bouabdellah Chelef (ALG) secured victory over 1.45 metres in Canteleu, France. The gelding from line 5401 is a half-brother to the licensed stallion New. Quidam I by Newton.
Electra by Casall-Latus II (Günther Betge, Detmold), line 890, and Frederico Ciriesi (ITA) secured second place over 1.45 metres in Gorla Minore (ITA). In sixth place was the former Holsteiner auction horse Caruso Bello by Cascadello I-Carry (Manfred Birchler, SUI), line 890, ridden by Giovanni Lucchetti (ITA).
Eventing
In Canberra, Australia, Easy-Turn by Casall-Coriano (Kirsten Roll, Struvenhütten), line 223B, galloped to victory in a four-star eventing competition. The mare – who was awarded both a foal premium and a state premium in Holstein – was ridden by Shane Rose (AUS).
