At the Global Champions Tour leg in Madrid, a duo accustomed to success proved unbeatable once again: Con Quidam by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), line 1446, and Sanne Thijssen (NED). The pair not only secured €100,000 in prize money but also a place in the LGCT Super Grand Prix in Prague. “It’s incredible for me to have achieved such a success amongst all these top riders,” said an emotional Sanne Thijssen after her ride. And then another Holsteiner, Cartello VDL, took the silver medal. The son of Cartani-Lord (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 741, was ridden by Darragh Kenny (IRL).
Two Holsteiner horses took the top spots in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Championship in Redefin: The now 17-year-old Cayenne WZ by Claudio-Ramirado (Adelbert Sporn, Jardelundfeld), line 318D1, once again demonstrated his experience and class alongside Felix Hassmann. In 37.89 seconds, he jumped to victory in the jump-off of the 1.45-metre World Ranking show jumping competition. For the nine-year-old Chaka Chaka by Casall-Contender (Daniel Lehmann, Seengen), line 104A, it was all about gaining experience in show jumping events of this calibre. Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann rode the stallion to sixth place.
D’Artagnan de la Lys by Diamant de Semilly–Calando I (Frederik Ruyssen, Belgium), line 173, and Andres Vereecke (BEL) secured a victory over 1.45 metres in Bonheiden, Belgium. Vereecke is also successful internationally at show jumping up to 1.55 metres with this horse’s full sister, Die Gute Folia de la Lys.
Dressage
At the CDI Redefin, the Ampère-Aljano son Aperol (Heidi Blohm, Hamburg), line 8797, and Juliane Brunkhorst won a Grand Prix. The bay horse entered the sport under Emma Kanerva and qualified for the Louisdor Prize, a top-class series for up-and-coming Grand Prix horses in Germany. Riding with Brunkhorst, he has now made a winning international debut.
