In front of 25,000 spectators, Caroline Rehoff Pedersen from Denmark and Calvin, a son of Castelan I and Colman, secured an outstanding second place in the German Show Jumping Derby. The bay was bred by Hans Heinrich Peters (Krempermoor) and represents line 241. The pair had already remained clear of faults as one of only two combinations in the first round. They also remained clear of faults in the jump-off and were celebrated by the Hamburg crowd.
C The Stars by Contendro I out of Cassini II (Oliver Ross, Morsum), line 4, and Stephan Dubsky (IRL) also finished fifth, Cordillo – who won the 2019 Show Jumping Derby with Nisse Lüneburg – by Corrido-Candillo (Erik Schöning, Sipsdorf), line 3488, and Simon Heineke (GER) took sixth place.
Holstein horses also shone with their performances in the other four- and five-star-level competitions in Hamburg: Elysium by Zirocco Blue-Coronado (Manfred Tummes, Mühlheim), line 4539, and Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) secured silver in the City of Hamburg Championship.
In the Four-Star Classic Tour, Dynastie D by Casall-C-Indoctro (Gabriele Dehn, Schwesing), line 18B1, and Jan Meves (GER) took victory in the second class. Casalia R by Casall-Loran (ZG Redderberg, Ahrensbök), line 1907, and Robin Naeve (GER) finished second. Zuccero, a son of Zirocco Blue and Caretino (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), line 4539, and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE) finished fifth – in the final Tour class on Saturday, they were rewarded with the silver medal after riding nothing but clear rounds. C-Jay by Carthago-Contender (Hobe Bernhard, Kollmar), line 318D2, and Johannes Ehning (GER) came second over 1.45 metres.
In Munich, Cellato, a son of Cellestial-Calato bred by Jörn Kusel (Visselvörde), line 318D2, won the Grand Prix. Michael Kölz (GER) was in the saddle for this 1.55-metre show jumping competition.
The “Preis der Besten” in Warendorf is the most important central selection event on the road to this year’s European Youth Championships and also celebrated its 50th anniversary – on this occasion, numerous Holsteiner horses helped their young riders achieve magnificent successes: from a Holsteiner perspective, the medal tally stands at four golds, one silver and two bronzes.
In the Young Riders show jumping class, Clarimo’s Girl by Clarimo-Cantus (Michael Heinze, Baden-Baden), line 5064, and Mick Haunhorst took the gold medal. Ciro by Conlander-Casall (Tjeert Rijkens, Elmshorn), line 7369, and Marie Flick also secured silver in this category.
There was also Holsteiner gold in the Juniors’ class: Cordetto by Cormint-Acodetto I (Susanne Labuj, Kollmar), line 317A, and Naomi Himmelreich were crowned champions. Limbarto by Limbus-Calato (August Bartjen, Bad Zwischenahn), line 8677, and Lisa Maria Funke were awarded silver.
In the Children’s category, it was Dialo by Diarado-Levisto (Klaus Peter Wiepert, Neuratjensdorf), line 5118, and Jolie-Marie Kühner who left the competition arena wearing the winner’s sash.
Leading the way in all disciplines and thus taking first place in the Young Riders’ Eventing standings were Weisse Düne by Clarimo-Romino (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), line 890, and Greta Busacker. Chip Chap ZH by Carrico-Leandro (ZG Hamdorf, Seedorf), line 8901, and Tom-Nikolas Körner galloped to bronze.
Eventing
In Barborowko, Poland, Carjatan S by Clearway-Galant vert xx (Carl-Friedrich Söhrmann, Groß Buchwald), line 6788, and Christoph Wahler once again shone with commanding performances: In the CCI4*-S, they were already in second place after the dressage, took the lead with a flawless cross-country round and made no mistakes in the final show jumping round either, thus winning the competition. Fischer Wild Wave by Water Dance xx-Acobat II (ZG Marks/Muffels, Siethwende), line 6879, who was once sold at a Holstein auction, and Michael Jung came third.
