Holsteiner horses secured commanding victories in Nations Cups in both Aachen and Budapest.
This weekend, a Nations Cup over 1.50 metres took place in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, in which the association’s stallion Million Dollar and Sophie Hinners competed for the German team – and won! The team also included Coolio (Martina Wirtz, Wulkenzin), a son of Casalito and Quidam de Revel, line 2067, and Marcel Marschall. Second place went to Switzerland, with the Austrian team coming third.
Limbridge (Ralf Pawlowski, Heidenheim), a son of Limbus and Cambridge from line 741, and Jana Wargers also won gold in the Nations Cup with the German team at the CHIO in Aachen. “I knew I could trust my horse; that gave me confidence,” said the proud rider after the victory. The Belgian team, which finished second, also featured a Holsteiner: Quel Homme de Hus by Quidam de Revel-Candillo (Dr Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), line 4847, ridden by Jérôme Guéry.
The Holsteiner Association stallion Catch and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson achieved two strong placings in Deurne, the Netherlands: The son of Colman out of a Calido I dam (Hans-Peter Löding-Hasenkamp), line 890, came second and third in 1.40-metre and 1.45-metre classes.
In Aachen, Uricas v/d Kattevennen by Uriko-Cassini I (Otto-Boje Schoof, Hedwigenkoog), line 1916, also took bronze in a 1.55-metre show jumping class. The stallion is ridden by Harrie Smolders (NED).
Dressage
Holstein dressage horses also made a name for themselves in Aachen: Annabelle by Conteur-Linaro (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), line 776, and Helen Langehanenberg finished eighth in the Grand Prix and third in the Grand Prix Special. The Swedish team won bronze in the Nations Cup; the squad included Curiosity by Clinsmann-Carpaccio (Kurt Thomsen, Bunsoh), line 5964, and Antonia Ramel.
