The VR Classics in Neumünster are among the most traditional competitions in Europe. In addition to the BEMER Riders Tour final, other demanding classes took place here, in which Holsteiner horses delivered outstanding performances.
Hans-Dieter Dreher had never before been able to adorn himself with the title of Rider of the Year, but now the day had come at the VR Classics in Neumünster: his grey gelding Cous Cous by Cachas-Lasino (Norbert Schmalbach, Mollhagen), stem 18B1, helped him to these honours with two clear rounds. The results also earned the pair second place in the Grand Prix of Neumünster. "I'm super proud, I'm not the youngest anymore – so it's about time I won this," laughed Hans-Dieter Dreher after the victory.
Dacara E and Cassandra Orschel took second place at the Neumünster Championship. “I think after a day like this, you can’t help but be happy. Lots of my friends always come here to support me. I’m absolutely delighted to have come second here,” beamed Cassandra Orschel after her second-place finish in the 1.50-metre show jumping class. Her riding partner was, once again, her former Holsteiner auction horse Dacara E by Cancara-Caretino, bred by Gerd Eggers of Stadum, line 5064. Fourth place also went to Ethene by Corrado I-Cayado (Ferdinand Rutjes, NED), line 776, ridden by Lars Bak Andersen.
In the World Ranking Show Jumping, Tokyo by Toulon, out of a Cassini I dam (Jürgen Böge, Bunsoh), line 7492, confirmed her outstanding form with Hannes Ahlmann: The nine-year-old recently won a similar competition in Neustadt/Dosse; now, with Hannes Ahlmann, she took the bronze medal. Check Me by Casall-Clarimo (Johann Peter Lass, Leck), line 730B, and Jesse Luther came fifth.
Teike Carstensen had previously won the Neumünster Horse City Championship in 2016, back then in the junior and young riders’ age group. Eight years later, the rider from Sollwittfeld also secured the title in the senior category. In the show jumping class with a jump-off over 1.40 metres, she rode Capricioso VA by Clarimo-Casall (M. von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 4294, whom she has only been riding for two weeks. “I’d ridden him once before, but then my brother Tjade took him over. Now, for this competition, he’s been given another horse of mine, which he’s competing with here in the Grand Prix, and I was allowed to borrow Capricioso. I think I’ve made a good swap,” Carstensen grinned mischievously. Twenty-five-year-old Luisa Westphal, who is also involved with the Holsteiner Young Breeders’ Association, and Cascalino by Cascadello I-Quick Star (Hobe Magens, Ottenbüttel), line 8769, took second place. Another Holsteiner completed the podium: Peter Jakob Thomsen rode the grey Clooney by Clarimo-Carpaccio (Peter Petersen, Ahrenshoeft), line 8456.
Kasuarina HHL by Charleston-Quidam de Revel (Reimer Hennings, Bendorf), line 7673, put in an impressive performance in the Youngster Tour: the seven-year-old shone under Philipp Battermann-Voss with three clear rounds at her first international competition. The former Holsteiner auction horse also crossed the finish line in the final as the best seven-year-old with the third-fastest time. Kasanga VA by Diamant de Semilly-Casall (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 2067, and Tjade Carstensen finished the tour in fourth place overall. In the second qualifier, Pikeur Lacorado by Lord Fauntleroy–Acorado I (Dr Gisela Pietsch, Ostrohe), line 7709, topped the podium.
