Holsteiner Results: Cordillo finishes second in the Derby; Keaton HV jumps to ...

The equestrian weekend was dominated by the Al Shira’aa German Show Jumping and Dressage Derby in Hamburg-Klein Flottbek. And our Holsteiners put their best foot forward at their ‘home event’.

Simon Heineke and his experienced horse Cordillo by Corrido-Candillo (Erik Schöning, Sipsdorf), line 3488, took second place in the traditional derby following a jump-off. The 18-year-old Holsteiner had already won the Derby with Nisse Lüneburg in 2019 and, for example, finished fifth two years ago with his current rider. “I’m just so grateful,” said the rider from Stall Moorhof, just outside Hamburg. Fourth place also went to another Holsteiner with considerable Derby experience: C the Stars by Contendro I–Cassini II (Oliver Ross, Morsum), line 4, ridden by Stephan Dubsky, competing for Ireland.

In the Hamburg Championship over 1.55 metres, Arne van Heel (NED) and Keaton HV by Kannan–Contendro I (Rudolf Schmitt, Wesselburen), line 4748, underlined their top form of recent weeks. After two clear rounds, the pair finished third in Thursday’s main jumping competition. His stablemate, Charaktervoll HV by Comme il faut-Contendro I (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 474A, also put in a convincing performance. Ridden by Lucas Wenz, he secured two placings in the CSI4* Classic Tour – finishing second in the 1.50-metre Grand Prix.

The Holsteiners were also well represented in the second qualifier for the Grand Prix (1.50 metres): Second, third and fifth places went to Janne-Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and My Lady Lavista by Mylord Carthago-Levisto (Klaus Peter Wiepert, Neuratjensdorf), line 7369, Rene Dittmer and Cody by Casall-Quidam de Revel (Sören von Rönne, Neuendeich), line 8900, as well as Million’s Grey by Million Dollar-Colman (Rita Künzli, Switzerland), line 579 and Thomas Ryan (SWE).
