Last week was all about the European Championships in A Coruña, Spain. The German team was represented by the Holsteiner Coolio by Casalito-Quidam de Revel (Martina Wirtz, Wulkenzien), line 2067, and Marcus Ehning – and they won the bronze medal. With a clear round in the first round of the Nations Cup, the pair helped ensure that Germany progressed to the decisive round with four clear rounds. “My horse jumped extremely well, so I’m very pleased with that for now,” said Marcus Ehning about Coolio after the clear round. In the individual final, a “net roll” at jump one prevented them from progressing to the second round.
A 1.55-metre Grand Prix also took place as part of the European Championships’ supporting programme. Here, the Egyptian rider Abel Said, competing for Belgium, secured second place in the saddle of Calvaro by Cascadello I-Quidam de Revel (trainer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), line 7673.
