Marcus Ehning has only been riding Coolio – a son of Casalito and Quidam de Revel, line 2067 – for a few months, and the pair are already going from strength to strength. On Sunday, they won the 1.60-metre World Cup round in Madrid. They recently finished fourth in Verona (ITA). Coolio, who has quickly become one of Ehning’s top horses, was bred by Martina Wirtz from Hohenzieritz.
In Riyadh, the Zirocco Blue–Acorado I son Zaccorado Blue (Tanja Schramm, Ilmenau), line 1298, and David Will clocked the fastest round by far in the jump-off of the 1.50-metre Grand Prix and secured victory. Another Holsteiner, Crispo by Contendro I out of Corofino I (Heinz Schulze, Tiddische), line 5421, finished in sixth place. Faleh Suwead al Ajami (QAT) was in the saddle.
Castigo de Amor is a son of Cascadello I out of a Con Air dam, bred by Henrik and Madelaine Mark. Ridden by Betram Allen (IRL), the stallion from line 1129 won a 1.45-metre show jumping class in Opglabbeek, Belgium.
A few weeks ago, Jur Vrieling (NED) announced that his long-standing competition partner and team silver medallist at the World Championships in Herning (DEN), Long John Silver, would in future be paving the way for a young Swiss rider to reach the top level of the sport: Now the grey by Lasino-Corrado I (Peter Burmeister, Wangels), line 2896, has won a difficult show jumping competition in Valence, France, with Géraldine Straumann. The 19-year-old has already represented Switzerland at junior championships.
Also in Valence, Dream Boy d’Aiguilly by Casall-Cornet Obolensky emerged victorious: Ridden by Olivier Perreau (FRA), the stallion bred by Jürgen Hattebuhr (Winsen), line 1939, took first place over 1.45 metres.
Jérôme Guery (BEL) took third place with Cristel by Diamant de Semilly-Cento in a 1.45-metre course in Rouen, France. The mare was bred by Ronald Nowee (NED) and belongs to line 18A2.
