Whilst the best young Holstein show jumpers and dressage horses competed in the State Championships in Elmshorn last weekend, the older horses enjoyed success on the international stage.
The ever-successful Conner Jei by Connor-Cosimo (Gerhard Stahmer, Duvensee), line 8778, was narrowly beaten in the 5-star Rolex Grand Prix Ville de La Baule (FRA). Martin Fuchs (SUI) was delighted to receive €100,000 in prize money for second place. A 1.50-metre Derby also took place in La Baule. Here, Richard Vogel rode Chember by Charleston-Quebec (Lutz Dechau, Nutteln), line 7728, and finished fourth.
The American rider Kristen Vanderveen continues to tour Europe with her horses – and with great success. Last weekend, she placed her top horse, Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890, twice over 1.60 metres in St Tropez, whilst three of his half-siblings made a name for themselves at the State Championships.
