Under the motto ‘the last shall be first’, Martin Fuchs entered the jump-off of the Rolex Grand Prix in Dublin as the final rider to start. He had saddled Conner JEI (Gerhard Stamer, Duvensee), a son of Connor Cosimo, line 8778. And the horse galloped away from the competition to secure victory for the Swiss rider. “I stuck to my plan, took a big risk at the final jump, but fortunately the plan paid off,” Fuchs noted contentedly afterwards. Third place also went to a Holsteiner: Carissimo by Cascadello I–Clinton I (Sport a Media/SLO), line 2666, ridden by the American Aaron Vale.
Team USA had already had every reason to celebrate, having won the Nations Cup at the Dublin Horse Show: With two clear rounds, Callas by Casall-Coriano (Jürgen Böge, Bunshoh), line 7492, and McLain Ward made a significant contribution to this victory. In second place with the Irish team was Cartello VDL by Cartani-Lord (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 741. He was ridden by Darragh Kenny (IRL).
At the Global Champions League leg in London, Team Cannes Stars further extended their lead in the overall rankings with a third-place finish. Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann, who is part of the tour’s first all-female team, rode a young Holsteiner mare in the course in London: High Level by Livello-King Milford xx (Jens Hauschildt, Seester), line 95, is nine years old and enjoyed his first success at four-star level last week.
David Wills’ “Schleifenpony” – as he affectionately calls Zaccorado Blue by Zirocco Blue-Acoorado I (line 1298), bred by Tanja Schramm from Ilmenau – took second place in a 1.45-metre show jumping class. Earlier that weekend, the pair had already emerged victorious in the first GCL class in London.
Eventing
In the three-star competition in Bad Harzburg, two Holsteiners secured podium places: victory in this competition went to Gamegirl Imperial by Chico’s Boy–Cyrkon xx (Henning Möller-Hansen, Hoyer). The Danish rider Peter T. Flarup had ridden the ten-year-old mare. Caja by Cassilano-Aljano (Lorenz Lassen, Waabs), line 1525, galloped to the bronze medal with Berit Schulz (GER).
