Holsteiner Results: Con Quidam RB wins in Spain, Corsica in the USA

It’s no secret that Sanne Thijssen has a horse in Con Quidam RB by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), line 1446, that can really fly. Now aged 18, he has already won several Grand Prix events over 1.55 and 1.60 metres this year alone. Now he has once again proved to be the fastest in the Grand Prix at Gijón, Spain. Callias by Companiero-Casco (Sven and Lothar Völz, Wöhrden), line 730B, and Jesus Garmendia Echevarria (ESP) took fifth place here.

In Bridgehampton, New York, the Connor daughter Corsica X and Rene Dittmer secured victory in the Grand Prix, which had a prize fund of over 400,000 US dollars. Corsica X is by a Corofino II dam and was bred by Erich Westphal (Stipsdorf) from line 4564. Rene Dittmer is the first German to have won this competition. In the jump-off, he prevailed against seven competitors and ultimately collected US$132,000 in prize money.

Conner JEI, a son of Connor, was victorious in the Nations Cup in Brussels (BEL). Just last weekend, the Connor-Cosimo son (Gerhard Stamer, Duvensee), line 8778, and Martin Fuchs (SUI) won the Dublin Grand Prix.

Holly del Rilate (Rilate Allevamento, Asti) comes from an Italian-Holstein breeding line. The mare by Verdi-Cassini I represents line 18B1 and, ridden by Luca Coata (ITA), won a 1.45-metre show jumping competition in Rome (ITA).

In the 1.55-metre show jumping competition in Münster, Quin by Verdi-Corrado I (Laura Trinchero/ESP), line 318D2, came third with Laura Klaphake (GER). Cous Cous by Cachas-Lasino (Norbert Schmalbach, Mollhagen), line 18B1, took fourth place with Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER).

Richard Vogel has another Holsteiner under his saddle, namely Paula’s Diamant by Casall-Cassini I (Heike Arendt, Sollwitt), line 5889, with whom he was also highly successful in Münster: The pair finished fourth over 1.50 metres. Riding Coquetto by Cornet Obolensky-Casquetto (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 2067, Hannes Ahlmann came sixth. In another 1.50-metre course, Richard Vogel rode the association stallion Crack HV by Cornet Obolensky–Candillo (Campos Cria de Caballos de Deporte), line 1020, to second place.
