At the Longines Global Champions League round in Shanghai (CHN), a Holsteiner mare was part of the winning Shanghai Swans team: The eleven-year-old Chill Ma by Crunch-Alcatraz (Rasmus Lüneburg, Hetlingen), line 8763, is stabled with the Swiss rider Pius Schwizer. With her flawless performances at the weekend, she impressively demonstrated that she has reached the very top of the sport. Her career began in Schleswig-Holstein under her breeder Rasmus Lüneburg, who bred her from Leica, a daughter of Alcatraz and Rembrandt who had enjoyed success at 1.60 metres.
Teike Carstensen must be immensely proud of her success in training Greece by Mylord Carthago-Quinar (Margit Petersen), line 3401. Not only has she trained the mare herself from introductory classes up to the 1.60-metre level, but she was also selected last weekend for the German team for the Nations Cup in Mannheim. The team took silver behind the Netherlands. The fourth-placed team from Slovakia included Quadrosson ASK by Quadros-Carentan and Radovan Sillo (SVK). The bay horse comes from Werner Schumacher’s stud farm in Meerbusch and represents line 1947. In sixth place was the Swiss team with Chicharito by Casalito-Quo Vados I (Karl Heinz Knudsen, Pellworm), line 741, and Adrian Schmid.
Crockett WZ by Connor-Contendro I (Arnold Johannsen, Ahrenlohe), line 95, began his career at the Holsteiner licensing, where he changed hands at the auction of licensed stallions. He entered international competition with Felix and Toni Hassmann (GER). He is now enjoying success with Sönke Aldinger (GER) – the pair came second over 1.45 metres in Mannheim. Fourth place went to Cayadino by Cayado-Quick Fire (Ulrich Rodde, Strande), line 162, and Hannes Ahlmann (GER). Name it by Namelus R-Alasca (Frank Kok/NED), line 1859, and Kevin Jochems (NED) came sixth.
Jorge Matte Capdevila (CHI) rides CCS Uriko by Uriko-Lavall I (Wilfried Thomann, Drelsdorf), line 890. This horse is Casall’s half-brother and finished fifth in a 1.55-metre course at Opglabbeek in Belgium.
At the horse festival in Redefin, Simon Heineke (GER) rode Early Bird (Marina Lüders, Kollmar), a daughter of Clearway-Contendro I, line 776, to fourth place in a 1.45-metre two-phase show jumping class. In the Grand Prix, Carlito H by Comme il faut-Acorado I (Wolfgang Harjes/GER) and Robin Naeve took sixth place, followed by Lyjanair by Lyjanero-Coriano (Wendy Davis Gerrish/USA), line 474A, and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson in seventh place.
Dressage
Aperol (Heidi Blohm, Hamburg), a son of Ampère by Aljano, line 8797, won the Grand Prix in Redefin with Juliane Brunkhorst and came second in the Grand Prix Kär. Quintessenz BS by Quadros-Contendro I (Karsten Butenschön, Sarzbüttel), line 1223, and Anna-Lisa Wehr also finished eighth in the Grand Prix Special.
