Whilst this weekend’s sporting events in Elmshorn were dedicated to young horses, Holsteiners achieved numerous successes on the international stage all over the world.
At the German Championships, Cornela by Cornet Obolensky-Caretino and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER) won the Balve Championship. The mare comes from the family’s own breeding programme and represents line 4847 – she is the half-sister of the 2021 Holsteiner Champion Stallion, Esmeraldo by Emerald van het Ruytershof. Cupfer (Nybor Pferde GmbH & Co. KG, Borken), a son of Casall-Landos I from line 4, and Kaya Ehning (SUI) finished fourth, whilst Qujo by Calido I-Quantum (Sören von Rönne, Neuendeich), line 569, and Rene Dittmer (GER) came fifth. Nijinsky by Numero Uno-Cartani (Andrea Eckler, Bennin), line 741, and Alexa Stais (RSA) came second in a 1.45-metre show jumping class. Victory in a difficult show jumping class also went to C-Jay by Carthago–Contender (Hobe Bernhard, Kollmar), line 318D2, and Johannes Ehning (GER).
The Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Cannes (FRA), over 1.60 metres, was decided in a fast jump-off: Third place and €75,000 in prize money went to the Casall-Carthago daughter Cinca (Peter Wylde, USA), line 318D2, and Michael Duffy (IRL). Darc de Lux by Darco-Contender (Morten Augustin, DEN), line 1094, and Andreas Schou (DEN) finished fifth. “I can’t thank this horse enough,” said the Dane happily. Dywis HH by Toulon-Corofino II (Peter Huismann, NED), line 741, and Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) emerged victorious from a 1.55-metre course. Zaccorado Blue by Zirocco Blue-Acorado I (Tanja Schramm, Ilmenau), line 1298, and David Will (GER) came fourth.
In La Baule (FRA), Cristel by Diamant de Semilly–Cento (Ronald Nowee, NED), line 18A2, and Jérôme Guéry (BEL) were once again highly successful: They finished fourth in the 1.50-metre course.
The Clarimo daughter Clarima (sire: Quintero), bred by Carsten Schafmeyer, line 1859, and Sanne Thijssen (NED) won silver in the 1.50-metre class in Opglabbeek, Belgium.
