A new year, new competitions: No sooner has 2025 begun than the most talented Holsteiners and their riders are once again travelling the world and racking up sporting achievements.
The Jakobshalle in Basel (SUI) proved to be a lucky venue for Holsteiner horses and their riders: in the U25 Tour, Canturia by Canturo-Askari (Hans Peter Rau, Calw), line 2067, and Lea-Sophia Gut emerged as the winners. Her dam is none other than the half-sister of the licensed stallions Canturano I and II.
Clariquada T by Clarimo-Coronado I (Manfred Tummes, Mühlheim), line 4539, also has a famous half-brother: Hans-Dieter Dreher’s Elysium by Zirocco Blue. Clariquada T is now ridden by the Brazilian Yuri Mansur, who placed her fourth in a 1.50-metre show jumping class. Castiel (Hobe Magens, Ottenbüttel), line 8769, and Bryan Balsiger were the best Holstein-Swiss pair in the Basel class, finishing fifth. In seventh place were the Holstein Association stallion Crack HV by Cornet Obolensky-Candillo (Campos Cria de Caballos de Deporte), line 1020, and Richard Vogel (GER).
In Ocala, Florida (USA), Kristen Vanderveen was once again able to rely on her successful partner Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890: The full brother of the licensed Uno I and II took silver in a 1.50-metre show jumping class. Cassinnia by Casalito-Cento (ZG Sachau, Bohmstedt), line 1228, also took fourth place with Delaney Flynn (USA). The mare originally changed hands at a Holstein foal auction.
