At the World Cup in Verona (ITA), Marcus Ehning and Coolio finished third. The son of Casalito and Quidam de Revel (Martina Wirtz, Hohenzieritz), line 2067, completed both the challenging main round and the jump-off of the 1.60-metre course without any knockdowns. Coolio began his career as a Holsteiner auction foal, went on to enjoy success under Marcel Marschall (GER) and subsequently joined top rider Marcus Ehning’s stable.
In sixth place in the World Cup show jumping event in Verona was an ‘old acquaintance’: at the end of last year, Jur Vrielung announced that his long-standing sporting partner and team silver medallist at the World Championships in Herning (DEN) Long John Silver would in future be paving the way for a young Swiss rider into the top echelons of the sport: since then, Long John Silver by Lasino-Corrado I (Peter Burmeister, Wangels), line 2896, has been successful with Géraldine Straumann (SUI), now also at World Cup level.
Another World Cup-level competition was held in Toronto, Canada: Here, too, two Holsteiners placed in the top ten: Bull Run’s Jireh by Uriko-Colman (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 890, and Kristen Vanderveen (USA) finished sixth. Corsica X by Connor-Corofino II (Erich Westphal, Stipsdorf), line 4564, and Rene Dittmer (GER) took ninth place.
Cashew CR is by Cassini II out of Quinar. The gelding was bred by Georg Clausen (Rabenkirchen), line 4539, and is ridden by Alex Matz (USA). In Toronto, the pair won both a 1.45-metre and a 1.50-metre jumping class at the World Cup competition.
