At the third World Cup leg of the current season in Madrid (ESP), Annabelle by Conteur-Linaro (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), line 776, and Helen Langehanenberg were in top form. Having initially finished third in the Grand Prix, the 13-year-old mare and her rider scored 80.5 per cent in the freestyle and secured a commanding victory. “Of course I’m delighted with the victory. But I’m even more delighted with how we achieved this success,” said Langehanenberg, who trained the bay mare herself. “Above all, I’m revelling in the feeling of crossing the finish line. It was incredible. Riding through telepathy – no longer two, but feeling like one body. I can hardly put it into words. There are gifts that only horses can give you. And today was a real treat!”
Second place in the show jumping event at the Madrid World Cup leg went to C Vier by Cardento-Concorde (Wilma Wolters, Groningen), line 8818, and David Will. With this placing in the 1.60-metre show jumping competition, they secured around 32,000 euros in prize money.
Association stallion Zuccero finished his first 1.50-metre show jumping competition highly successfully in third place. The Zirocco Blue–Caretino son (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), line 4539, and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson competed at the Sweden International Horse Show.
In the 1.50-metre show jumping class in Riyadh (KSA), the Cornet Obolensky son Cornet’s Spirit took silver. The grey, bred by Dr Simone Konopka, has a Con Air dam (line 95) and was ridden by Egor Shchibrik (RUS). Coming sixth in this competition was the former Holsteiner Elite Auction horse Chichester by Casall-Cosimo (Andrea Mietz, Sukow), line 18A2, ridden by Saad Alajami (KSA).
In the Grand Tour final of the CSI2* in Riesenbeck (GER) over 1.45 metres, Hope Street by Casall-Quick Nick I and Lucas Porter (USA) galloped to first place. The winner of this World Ranking show jumping competition was born at Barbara Tenge-Rietberg’s stud in Sagau and belongs to line 4847.
Callias (Sven and Lothar Völz, Wöhrden), a son of Companiero out of Casco, line 730B, had a highly successful year. Following several victories and top placings in classes up to 1.45 metres in Oliva, Madrid and Sariego (ESP), he and Jesus Garmendia Echevarria (ESP) have now also secured repeated victories in Barcelona (ESP).
