This week, the German equestrian world turned its attention to Warendorf to identify the country’s best young horses – and Holstein provided several of them. But successes by Holsteiners from all over the world were also celebrated at international show jumping venues.
Kristen Vanderveen has several talented Holsteiners in her stable, one of whom is Bull Run’s Prince of Peace, a son of Cardenio Contender. Riding the bay, bred by Breido Graf zu Rantzau (Breitenburg), line 1446, she has now won yet another 1.45-metre Grand Prix in Bridgehampton (USA). “There were plenty of other good pairs, but Prince is simply a naturally fast and magnificent horse,” beamed the winner.
In a 1.60-metre Grand Prix at this competition, two Holsteiners took second and third place: One was Prescott by Lordanos-Carvallo BB (S.C. Sofino, Belgium), line 1446, ridden by Aaron Vale (USA), and the other was Coco Beach by Casall-Corrado I (Anton Bauer, Wagram), line 425, ridden by Richie Moloney (IRL).
At Chiemsee, Max Kühner and EIC Caleo by Cachas-Quantum, line 1223, bred by Rainer Schulz (Havekost), celebrated a victory over 1.45 metres. The pair had already enjoyed success at this level this year in Knokke (BEL) and St Tropez (FRA).
Nayel Nassar (EGY) and his Coronado by Cassini I-Acord II (Karl-Heinz Markussen, Hochviöl), line 8828, competed in Calgary/Spruce Meadows (CAN) – and with great success. They took silver in a 1.55-metre class and first place in another. The grey horse is owned by Nassar’s partner, Jennifer Gates, daughter of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
