Today, Saturday, the first Holstein State Champions in show jumping were crowned. In the four-year-olds’ class, Quinta by Casall won the hearts of the audience and the judges alike, whilst the winner of the seven-year-olds’ class was Cimarosa by Comme il faut.
Twenty-eight talented four-year-olds had qualified for the final via Saturday’s qualifying round. The quality of these young show jumpers was impressive, with 20 horses receiving a score of 8.0 or higher. In the end, victory went to a Holsteiner mare who, last year, left the Herbert-Blöcker-Platz as the ‘queen’ of the elite mare show. Just like her dam, Nanett, did in 2002, incidentally. We are talking about Quinta by Casall-Corofino I, line 223B, bred by Günther Fielmann (Schierensee), who passed away a few months ago. With two-time Derby winner Marvin Jüngel in the saddle, Quinta galloped to the title with a dream score of 9.2. The judges praised her rideability, suppleness and excellent point of drive, as well as the ease with which the chestnut mare performed her tasks. And it was precisely these qualities that Marvin Jüngel highlighted: “Quinta is a horse that brings joy every day. Her charisma, her natural rideability and her jumping are something quite special. She feels right at home on this lovely course here in Elmshorn; Quinta was simply born to be a competition horse,” says Marvin Jüngel, clearly full of praise. The silver medal was secured by Carl Arthur by Casall-Cento (Gerd Ohlsen, Föhr), line 18A2, with Antonia Selina Brinkop in the saddle. The judges – Peter Schmerling, Peter Rauert, Werner Peters and Sigrid Haaf – awarded the gelding a straight ‘very good’ for his performance. “The horse improved impressively on the course during the final and impressed with a great deal of ability,” said Peter Schmerling. The bronze went to Creativ von der Söhr by Cayado-Quickly de Kreisker (Christian Schröder, Bargteheide), line 4539. Jan-Pierre Fromberger put the licensed stallion in the spotlight and received a score of 8.8. “He has quick reflexes and handles his body very well,” was the judges’ verdict.
Cimarosa repeats victory from the qualifier
In the seven-year-old show jumpers’ class, Cimarosa by Comme il faut-Cormint (Jürgen Böge, Bunsoh), line 7492, repeated her triumph from the qualifier. Hannes Ahlmann rode the mare to victory in the S* show jumping class with a jump-off and was presented with the coveted oak wreath. “I already had a great feeling in the qualifier. I’m delighted that Cimarosa was able to build on that form in the final,” beamed Hannes Ahlmann afterwards.
The pair crossed the finish line more than three seconds ahead of Rolf-Göran Bengtsson and Davis by Diarado-Casall (Timm Peters, Bargenstedt), line 390, who secured the silver medal. Third place went to Lars Bak Andersen and Leviathan HS by Livello-Casall (Jan Herbert Detjens, Seestermühe), line 741.

The auction of riding horses and foals begins at 3.45 pm. Videos and information on all auction lots can be viewed at www.holsteiner.auction. After the evening is rounded off once again with challenging show jumping from 6.00 pm, the athletes will swap their riding breeches for shorts as they compete for glory, honour and high-quality prizes in the volleyball competition. Tomorrow, Sunday, the Holsteiner Horse Days will draw to a close – though not, of course, without the champion mares being crowned from 9.00 am and the five- and six-year-old show jumpers having found their state champions.
