Holsteiner Horse Days: Koccu Lu races to victory in the seven-year-olds’ class

On Saturday afternoon, the seven-year-old show jumpers crowned their new regional champion in a 1.40-metre show jumping competition at the Maas J. Hell Stud. Eight young horses made it through to the jump-off, where the action was fast and furious. The fastest clear round was achieved by Koccu Lu by Comme il Faut-Cormint, bred by Kersten Lutzke. Antonia-Selina Brinkop literally flew through the course on the bay mare. The clock stopped at 38.76 seconds. “Koccu Lu isn’t the sort of horse that’s always been at the top of the rankings in show jumping classes. She likes to ride with her head held high and has her own way of jumping; the fast classes suit her better. Today, everything just clicked,” beamed the rider after her triumph. Koccu Lu is set to compete in upcoming shows in Ehlersdorf and Hörup, before perhaps taking part in the National Championships in Warendorf in September.

The silver medal was secured by Spiderman RF by I’m Special de Muze-Cassini II, bred by Roswitha Flinzer. The OS-registered bay was ridden by Arne van Heel (NED) and crossed the finish line in 39.29 seconds. Bronze was awarded twice, as Björn Behrend and MacGyver by Million Dollar-Colman (Manfred Nissen) and by Lucas Wenz and the association-owned stallion Vigado by Vigo d’Arsouilles-Quo Vados I (Witt Pferdezucht GbR) after exactly 39.80 seconds.
