The Holstein Horse Days in Elmshorn have begun. The dressage hopefuls kicked off the event at the Herbert-Blöcker-Platz with qualifiers for the National Championships, their regional championships and competitions up to advanced level.
Three- and four-year-old riding horses had the opportunity to put themselves forward for Warendorf’s annual highlight in September. And three horses were nominated to compete at the National Championships: These included the three-year-old Eindrucksvoll by Escolar-Connor (Peter Böge, Schönhorst), line 4705, whom Markus von Holdt rode to victory (7.8) in the riding horse class. Also nominated was the three-year-old Ocara by Chezarro-Quo Vados I (ZG Schacht, Kollmar), line 3401. The mare was ridden by Julian Döbberthin and took second place (7.7). In the four-year-old division, there was a ‘repeat performer’: Nikita S by Zackery-Damon (ZG Sudeck, Uetersen), line 776, won her class (7.9) and, as in the previous year, was nominated for the National Championships. Roland Metzler was once again in the saddle.
Elfensymphonie dances her way to the title
Elfensymphonie was crowned the new State Champion among the five-year-old dressage horses, skilfully presented by Markus von Holdt. The dark chestnut mare by Vitalis-Fürstenball was bred by Caroline van Zele and secured victory with Markus von Holdt. The Oldenburg-registered five-year-old won an L-class dressage test (7.92). Second place went to My Romanciera by Fürst Romancier-Aljano (ZG Ellerbrock), line 990, ridden by Christina Ellendt, with a score of 7.84. In 2022, the mare was crowned the dressage-oriented winner of the Association’s Mare Show in Elmshorn. MarcAnthony EA by Maracaná-Donnerhall (Elisabeth C. Ahn-Ballies, Grebin) and Swantje Peters secured bronze in the five-year-old championship with a score of 7.8.
The bundle of energy Quibbel J triumphs in the six-year-olds
“He’s the most ambitious horse I have in my stable,” says rider Jonas Juhl following his victory in the State Championship for six-year-old dressage horses, a Class M dressage test (7.92). He spoke about Quibbel J, a son of Quantensprung by Casall, bred by Dr Eva-Maria Junkelmann, who was delighted with the success of her Holsteiner: “He has a great deal of energy, which he was able to channel positively today,” said the proud breeder and owner. Cadeau by Clarksville-Lorentin I (Birgit Joergensen, DEN), line 8909, and Anna Metzler won silver (7.66). The bronze medal went to Bentley JG by Bon Coeur-Hofrat and Joana Graf (Bargfeld-Stegen), who bred the gelding herself, with a score of 7.44.
First show jumping qualifiers on Friday
On Friday, 14 June, the first qualifiers for the show jumping competitors will take place. The four-year-olds will start at 08:00, followed by the five-year-olds at 10:00, before the first qualifying round for the seven-year-olds is scheduled for 14:00. At 4.00 pm, the presentation of the lots for the riding horse auction will set the tone for the varied weekend, followed by an S* show jumping competition from 5.00 pm and the Welcome Evening afterwards.
