The young breeders from the Brandenburg-Anhalt Breeding Association are the winners of the 25th National Young Breeders’ Competition in Neustadt/Dosse. Not only did they win the team competition in Age Group I (Juniors), but they also came out on top in the overall standings against representatives from the Hanoverian Association and the Rhenish Horse Stud Book. In Age Group II (Seniors), however, the Hanoverians came out on top. A total of eleven breeding associations were represented.
The historic setting of the Brandenburg State Stud provided the backdrop for this anniversary edition, which took place following a delay caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The titles were contested across two age groups and four disciplines. As in the previous year, free jumping and conformation assessment were carried out using linear descriptions. Unlike in 2022, however, the young breeders no longer had to resort to pen and paper for this. Instead, a new programme – developed by the young breeders in collaboration with the Trakehner Association – was used, enabling participants to enter their assessments directly into their smartphones or tablets.
Seventeen young breeders from Holstein set off together for Neustadt/Dosse to spend three days experiencing the competition and having lots of fun.
The Holstein junior team, consisting of Nane Grossmann, Isa v. Hennig, Birte Reimers, Marlene Gehrt and Lara Bicker, gained a wealth of experience. Nane Grossmann came 7th in the overall junior rankings. Birte Reimers, aged 14, delivered a confident performance. In the final standings, the juniors finished in 6th place.
The senior team, comprising Johanna Hagemeister, Cornelius Speck, Mirja Rudnik, Eva Speck and Annika Struwe, were able to draw on the experience gained last year and secured 4th place with a strong performance. In the individual rankings, Johanna Hagemeister came 5th and Cornelius Speck 8th. We are delighted that our young breeders were able to put in particularly strong rounds this year in the supreme discipline, the pre-show judging.
We congratulate the team from Brandenburg-Anhalt on their home victory and look forward to next year’s national competition.
