Holsteiner of the Month for October: Caillan

A true champion holds the title of Holsteiner of the Month in October. Strictly speaking, he is even a triple champion already, as Caillan was crowned both Holsteiner regional champion and federal champion this year. At the World Championship in Lanaken, Belgium, the unbelievable then happened for him. Caillan also became World Champion! Winning the title in Lanaken with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson is certainly the provisional highlight of Caillan's career.
Caillan is a son of Casall, his dam is the mare Perle by Carry-Landgraf I from Stamm 18A2. He first saw the light of day at Gerd Ohlsen's on the North Sea island of Föhr – exactly like Pikeur Dylon (Markus Brinkmann), who is a half-brother to Caillan. He had not found his way to the licensing in Neumünster as a young stallion, but his breeder nevertheless believed in his quality as a show jumper. And he was to be proven right. Under Antonia-Selina Brinkop, the gelding gathered his first experience in the course, already becoming reserve regional champion in 2021 in a season that he concluded as a serial winner in young horse classes. Then Ohlsen, who is still the owner, asked himself: How should things proceed? In coordination with Antonia Brinkop, he finally placed Caillan into the hands of Rolf-Göran Bengtsson to pave the horse's way into international sport. The two have been successful in numerous international youngster tours so far and secured the title of World Champion at the end of September. "Caillan is one of the great young prospects in my stable. When it matters, he is 100% focused and willing to perform. That reminds me a great deal of his sire Casall," said Rolf-Göran Bengtsson.
