In May, it is Cody v. Casall-Quidam de Revel who has earned the title of ‘Holsteiner of the Month’. Not only – but also – did the chestnut, bred by Sören von Rönne (Neuendeich), shine at the World Cup Final in mid-April with outstanding rounds over the course.
Just under a year and a half ago, René Dittmer took over the now eleven-year-old from Linn Hamann’s Line 8900. The rider from Schleswig-Holstein had trained Cody up to 1.40 metres in show jumping before Dittmer took over. Their first major achievement together was last year’s German Championships in Balve, where the pair won the bronze medal. Following the CHIO in Aachen, René Dittmer then flew to the USA and Canada with his horses. Over the winter, Cody secured victories and numerous top placings, including in Wellington, Lexington and Toronto. And at the League of Nations weekend in Ocala in mid-March, the pair went on to win the main show jumping competition at the CSIO5*.
“Cody is naturally incredibly fast. He’s still a bit green at this high level. But he’s a superb horse who’s developing all the time and has already achieved some fantastic placings,” his rider told springreiter.de afterwards. And at the World Cup Final in Fort Worth (USA), they finished in an outstanding fourth place as the best German pair.
A glance at Cody’s pedigree – alongside his sporting successes – is also sure to catch the eye: his third dam is none other than the famous Landgraf I daughter Taggi, with whom Sören von Rönne became team world champion in The Hague (NED) in 1994.
