The Holsteiner Mare of the Month for June proves that the bloodline does not lie. She is Cristel, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly out of a dam by Cento-Calypso II. These valuable genes are rooted in the Holsteiner mare line 18A2. Cristel was born at Ronald Nowee’s stud in the Netherlands, and her granddam, K-Jade, is none other than the dam of the Carthago son C-Trenton Z (Torben Köhlbrandt). Cristel has, for example, two successful siblings competing at 1.55-metre level: Diacento (Elliott Dowler/GBR) and Oak Grove’s Battle Cry (Harm Lahde).
Cristel is 13 years old this year and has a track record of numerous excellent competitive successes. Under various riders, she has enjoyed success in show jumping up to 1.60 metres in recent years; at La Baule (FRA), she was part of the winning Belgian Nations Cup team. Last year, Nils Bruynseels (BEL) was still riding the Holsteiner mare; she is now stabled with his compatriot Jérôme Guery, who, with Quel Homme de Hus by Quidam de Revel, Uniquo by Uriko and Chill ma by Crunch. Most recently, Guery and Cristel won two classes at the CSI in Nancy, France.
