In July, Uricas v/d Kattenvennen is the Holsteiner of the Month. The catalyst for this award is his victory in the Grand Prix at the CSIO in St. Gallen (SUI), but the son of Uriko out of a Cassini I-Caretino dam has been drawing attention to himself together with Harrie Smolders (NED) for quite some time. The licensed stallion was born at Otto Boje Schoof's in Hedwigenkoog, who has successfully maintained stem 1916 for generations. World-class show jumpers and licensed stallions originate from the direct dam line. To name just a few representative of countless top horses: Conway I and II by Caretino as well as their full sister Chica’s Way, Clearway by Capitol I, and Carrasina by Concerto II.
In St. Gallen at the beginning of June, eleven-year-old Uricas v/d Kattevennen was able to claim his first 1.60-metre Grand Prix, shortly after making his five-star debut in the Nations Cup of Rome. "He gained a lot of experience last year," Smolders said after his victory. "For me, that meant staying calm and waiting until he was ready. And that is now the case."
