With a victory in the international U25 tour, Canturia by Canturo-Askari (Hans-Peter Rau, Calw) jumps to the title of Holsteiner of the Month this month. The 16-year-old mare from lineage 2067 secured victory over 1.45 metres at the Longines CHI Classics in the Jakobshalle in Basel with her rider Lea Sophia Gut.

Canturia has been successful in showjumping courses for several years. The Holsteiner mare collected her first international merits under Niklas and Leonie Krieg in competitions up to 1.60 metres before moving to the yard of Lea Sophia Gut, an up-and-coming young rider from Biberach an der Riß, around three years ago. "Canturia is a very special horse for me. Without her, I wouldn't be here today. We have a very deep bond; we can rely on each other 100 percent," the 22-year-old describes her sporting partner after her victory in the Swiss Equestrian Talents final. The pair had previously recorded further wins and placings in Ising, Hagen a.T.W., Munich, Donaueschingen, Gorla Minore (ITA) and Stadl Paura (AUT), among others. Canturia is not only interesting from a sporting perspective, but her pedigree is also noteworthy – for instance, her dam is a half-sister to the two licensed stallions Canturano I and II, which, like Canturia, are sired by Canturo.
