In Barborówko, Poland, several Holsteiners stood out with their top placings in international eventing competitions. First and foremost Wild Wave by Water Dance xx-Acobat II from the breeding partnership of Jos Muffels and Reinhold Marks. Ridden by Michael Jung, the bay finished second in the four-star short format. The nine-year-old was once sold via the Holsteiner Verband auction of unlicenced stallions and has now arrived at the top level of sport under Michael Jung. In 2019, he won, among other things, the test event for the Olympic Games in Tokyo (originally scheduled for 2020). Sandra Auffarth and Let’s Dance by Lancer-Contender (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), stem 318D2, impressively proved that eventing is by no means decided after the dressage phase. They worked their way up from 16th place after dressage to the bronze position with a flawless cross-country round.
In the four-star long format class, a horse with Holsteiner pedigree also galloped onto the podium: Dajara by Carrico-Caretino (Jennifer Bardtke Radewald, Jörl), stem 5393, and Indian rider Fouaad Mirza, who trains with Sandra Auffarth, finished third. Dirk Schrade and Casino by Casillas-Claudio (Behrend Jacobs, Ostenfeld), stem 1020, came in sixth.
The Polish Eventing Championship (Seniors) was held within the CCI4* competition, where Lucinda ex Ani by Limbus-Chello I (Holger Wittmaack, Langenhorn), stem 18A1, secured the bronze medal for her rider Pawel Warszawski. The mare started her sport career in Schleswig-Holstein under Christian Hess in the show jumping arena and is placed up to 1.40 metres.
