The competition organised by the Belgian Stephex Stables in Brussels proved a successful venue for Holsteiners this weekend. But horses from the ‘land between the seas’ also enjoyed success at other international competitions:
Carambole by Cassini I-Concerto II (Jens Ritters, Krumstedt), line 1094, and Willem Greve (NED) won a 1.50-metre show jumping class in Brussels. “He is the best horse ever,” was the Dutch rider’s comment on Carambole. The pair have already enjoyed success this year at the 1.60-metre level, for example in Knokke (BEL), Opglabbeek (BEL) and Westergellersen (GER).
Jessica Springsteen also competed in Brussels and had every reason to celebrate: shortly after winning the team silver medal for the USA at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, she went on to win a 1.60-metre class – and €165,000 in prize money – with the State Premium mare RMF Zecilie by Acolord-Canturo (Stall Maas J. Hell, Klein Offenseth), line 2428, a 1.60-metre class – and €165,000 in prize money. Quel Homme de Hus by Quidam de Revel–Candillo (Dr Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), line 4847, and Jérôme Guéry (BEL) finished fifth.
The winning team at the Longines Global Champions Tour stop in Hamburg – the Paris Panthers with Eve Jobs and Nayel Nassar – included Coronado (Karl-Heinz Markussen, Hochviöl), a son of Cassini I and Acord II. The grey was ridden by his Egyptian rider in the second round and completed the 1.60-metre course without any faults.
At the show in Valence, France, Chesall Zimequest by Casall-Concerto II (Günter Schüder, Bahrenfleth), line 1120, and Simon Delestre continued their winning streak: they won a 1.45-metre show jumping class.
In Klein Roscharden, the former Holsteiner auction horse C-Jay by Carthago-Contender (Hobe Magens, Kollmar), line 318D2, won the Grand Prix of the CSI2* with Johannes Ehning.
In Wiener Neustadt, Christian Hess enjoyed great success with a daughter of Uriko out of a Cartani dam, the nine-year-old Untouched (Doris Schimmer, Weddingstedt): The pair competed in two 1.45-metre classes, one of which was the championship of the two-star competition. “I’m more than proud,” wrote Christian Hess on his Instagram page after he and the bay mare recorded the only clear round of the class. He had carefully introduced the Uriko daughter from line 4025 to more challenging tasks and has already celebrated several successes with her this season. For example, they secured top placings up to 1.50 metres in Herzlake, Pinneberg and Kronenberg.
