On Sunday, further final competitions took place at the National Championships. The Holsteiners secured numerous placings – and one title.
In the six-year-old show jumpers’ class, ten Holsteiners progressed to the final, a Class M** show jumping competition with a jump-off. Among them was Mini Million
by Million Dollar-Baloubet du Rouet (Jörg Kröger), ridden by Pia-Luise Baur. And in the all-deciding round, the pair shone across the board, riding fast and remaining clear. This was rewarded with the title of Bundeschampion. Last year, Mini Million had already finished fourth in the final under Sophie Hinner. “I never expected this; I’m over the moon and speechless. He’s an absolute gem, completely well-balanced and always gives his all on the course,” said Pia-Luise Baur, who has only been riding for Vogel & Will Equestrian for a few months.
Britta Wittenbrink was awarded the BMLEH Animal Welfare Prize, a special honour from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Home Affairs (BMLEH) for riding practices that are particularly horse-friendly. She presented her home-bred horse, Diathino W by Diathago-Caretino, in the final for six-year-old show jumpers.
The following Holsteiners also placed in the final:
· Akteur by Amber-Canterbury (Gesa Christiansen) and Lennard Thomas, 10th place
· Madleine von der Söhr by Diamant de Semilly-Chambertin (Christian Schröder) and Jonte Hansen, 11th place
· Madara by Million Dollar-Centurion (Michael Rump) and Lina Renström, 14th place
· Master of Paradise by Manchester of Paradijs out of Catoki (Alina Hinzmann) and Patrick Bölle, 15th place
· Nightwish by Nixon v/h Meulenhof out of Uriko (Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH) and Arne van Heel, 20th place
In the five-year-old show jumping class, six horses with Holsteiner pedigrees reached the final. The best placing was secured by Capocino by Cornet’s Quaprice–Quiwi Dream (Carsten Lauck), ridden by David Will. The pair finished the championship in seventh place with a total of 17.5 points (8.7/8.8) from both rounds.
By a margin of just 0.1 points, three licensed Holsteiner stallions missed out on the second round and thus all finished in eleventh place (8.6): Alongside Comme le Feut by Comme il faut–Caretino (Ivonne Carstensen) and Tjade Carstensen, these were the two association stallions Deichkind by Don–Limbus (Rasmus Lüneburg) and Union City by United Way–Connor (Als Bartholomaues), ridden by Arne van Heel and Lucas Wenz. Furthermore, Maxmium von der Söhr by Manchester van’t Paradijs–Up to Date (Christian Schröder) and Jonte Hansen finished in 16th place (8.4) in the final test.
Eventing
In the final for five-year-old eventing horses, two horses from the Land between the Seas made it onto the list of placings. Uno by United Way-Centurion (Jan Kai Hansen), a three-quarter brother to Sophie Hinner’s young horse Iron Dames Uriel by Uriko, finished in eighth place. Lotte Palmgren presented Uno in Warendorf. The pair completed the cross-country, which counted double, with a score of 8.5. Novia by Cascadello I-Carry (Hans-Peter Löding-Hasenkamp) also finished in tenth place. Ridden by Felicia von Baath, the Holsteiner impressed particularly in the jumping with a score of 8.7 – the second-highest jumping score in this competition.
Among the six-year-old eventing horses, it was last year’s Bundeschampion who achieved the best result from a Holsteiner perspective. We are talking about Casanova by Cascadello I-Contender (Reimer Detlef Hennings) with Ben Leuwer in the saddle. In dressage (8.6) and cross-country (9.0), the Holsteiner shone in his usual form. However, Casanova was unable to maintain this form in the show jumping, meaning he could not secure a better placing. Curysler CSH by Cyrkon xx-Looping (Thomas Nissen), ridden by Esteban Benitez Valle, followed in tenth place.
