Final day of the National Championships: Holsteiners dominate the competitions

The National Championships in Warendorf came to an end today. In the show jumping and cross-country events, the horses from the Land between the Seas set the standard almost across the board. They won no fewer than six medals today alone for the Holsteiner Breeders’ Association.

In the five-year-old show jumping category, it was a case of ‘she came, she saw, she conquered’. Kalifa by Million Dollar (Nathalie Kock) shone in both the first and second rounds with scores of 9.5 and 9.7. This earned gold for the charming mare and her equally charming rider, Sophie Hinners.

In the six-year-old show jumpers’ class – where competitors once again had to qualify for the ‘against the clock’ final via two classes with scores this year – two medals went to Holstein. Firstly, Richard Vogel rode Dax (Dirk Georg Jessen), a son of Dinken Corrado, to the title (cover photo). The bronze medal was also secured by a horse from Holstein, which had already made a name for itself in the qualifiers with outstanding rounds and a victory. We are talking about Viva Las Vegas W by Vagabond de la Pomme-Cancara, bred by Matthias Wittke.

The eventing horses also sought and found their new National Champions today. And here, too, there were medals for Holstein breeding. The new champion of the five-year-old eventing horses is Cascoblanco. The son of Cascadello I by Sir Shostakovic xx, bred by Manfred Johannsen, was ridden to gold by Pia Münker.

Lillet and Duplexx secured two medals – silver and bronze – in the competition for six-year-old eventing horses. Lillet by Livello-Calido (Morena Petersen), ridden by Andreas Dibowski, was crowned vice-champion, whilst the bronze medal went to the crowd favourite Duplexx by Diarado-Heraldik (Hans-Peter Petersen), ridden by Jan Matthias.
