A field test for mares took place at the association’s grounds in Elmshorn, in which 35 Holstein and one Trakehner mare took part. Eleven horses achieved an overall mark of 8.0 or higher.

The highest overall mark was awarded to a daughter of Catch out of a Cassini I dam. She received an overall mark of 8.68. A Leovisto-L-Vainqueur mare received an overall mark of 8.56, achieving the second-best result. A daughter by Cascadello I out of Ramirado also completed the field test with a final mark of 8.41.

In the free jumping, judges Michael Gonell and Heino Kracht awarded the top mark of 10 on several occasions, whilst rideability and basic gaits were assessed by Dierk Groth and Peter Olsson. Sabrina Sievertsen-Nissen and Anna Wolf acted as guest riders.

The one-day field test is organised by the Schleswig-Holstein State Commission for Horse Performance Tests on behalf of the Holsteiner Verband. It begins with the free jumping being assessed by two judges. The mare is then presented to the jury once more, under her own rider in a group of up to four horses, for an assessment of her basic gaits and rideability. This is followed by the test with an outside rider to assess rideability. The mares should allow their riders to mount them without any difficulty and be ridden in the three basic gaits in a riding school-style manner in the arena.
