According to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, an agreement has been reached – in consultation with the relevant committees and parliaments – on derogations concerning the movement of equidae near the border between France and Germany.
Partly due to the favourable and comparable animal health situation in Germany and France with regard to notifiable equine diseases, the heads of the veterinary services of Germany and France have decided that no veterinary certificates need to be carried when transporting equines across the national border, provided that certain conditions (e.g. participation in events; origin from areas close to the border, etc.) are met. In such cases, only a self-declaration form needs to be completed.
