Results of the first field trial in April 2023

Seventeen mares competed in the field test in Elmshorn today – five of them achieved a score of 8.0 or higher.

The best overall score of 8.8 was achieved by a daughter of Colcannon I out of a Lavall I dam (Avora Pferde GmbH, Welmbüttel), line 4294. This mare was awarded a score of 9.5 by judges Michael Gonell and Heino Kracht in the free jumping test. She also impressed the judges responsible for assessing the basic gaits and rideability, Gudrun Smolinski and Markus Waterhues: She was awarded a 9.0 for her canter and an 8.5 for her rideability. Antonia Döllner and Harm David acted as guest riders.

Field Test organised by the Holsteiner Verband
The one-day field test has been organised since last year by the Holsteiner Verband in cooperation with the Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg Stud Book. It begins with the assessment of free jumping by two judges. The mare is then presented to the jury once more, ridden by her own rider in a group of up to four horses, for an assessment of her basic gaits and rideability. This is followed by the test with an unfamiliar rider to assess her rideability. The mares should allow their riders to mount them without any difficulty and be ridden in the three basic gaits in a riding school-style manner in the arena. Since 2021, five-year-old mares have also been eligible to take the test.
