Delegates’ Meeting: Olaf Rörden re-elected as First Chairman; Matthias Wree ...

At the delegates’ meeting of the Holsteiner Horse Breeders’ Association (Verband der Züchter des Holsteiner Pferdes e.V.), the agenda included, amongst other items, elections to the Executive Board, and we would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the results.

Olaf Rörden was re-elected to his position as First Chairman by an overwhelming majority, as scheduled. The 57-year-old has held this role since December 2024 and runs a business in Witsum on the island of Föhr, specialising in dairy farming, tourism, alternative energy and horse breeding. He has been breeding Holsteiner horses for over 30 years.

The post of First Vice-Chairman was also up for election. The previous First Vice-Chairman, Dieter Feddersen, did not stand for re-election. Matthias Wree from Hartenholm in the district of Segeberg was elected by a majority vote at the delegates’ meeting. He was born in 1978 on a farm in Angeln and is the managing director of an internationally active trading company specialising in agricultural commodities. He sees his key objectives for his work on the Executive Board as, first and foremost, further strengthening stallion breeding, the innovative development of the Holstein brand and a focus on Elmshorn as the hub for all activities.

Many thanks, Dieter Feddersen! Silver Pin of Honour for the Joldelunder
Around four years ago, during a Corona-related online delegates’ assembly, Dieter Feddersen was elected as an assessor to the Executive Board of the Holsteiner Verband. Prior to this, the Joldelunder native had already been involved in voluntary work for over 20 years, starting as chairman of the Young Breeders’ Association of North Frisia before eventually becoming a delegate and chairman in his licensing district. The petrol station and equestrian shop owner also runs the Pulverturm breeding and sports stables. The modernisation and expansion of the association’s stallion programme, highlighting the unique characteristics of the Holsteiner horse and promoting a service-oriented approach were matters of particular importance to him. He has always been receptive to the concerns of the breeding community. The Executive Board and the management team warmly thanked Dieter Feddersen for his commitment and wish him all the best. “Dear Dieter, you have always worked in a structured and objective manner on the Executive Board. Unfortunately, volunteers like you are few and far between, and we hope that you will remain involved with the Association in one way or another,” said Chairman Olaf Rörden. Dieter Feddersen was awarded the Association’s Silver Pin of Honour for his services to the Holsteiner horse.

A detailed report on the Delegates’ Assembly will be available shortly at www.holsteiner-verband.de and in the July issue of PFERD+SPORT.
